Aging
1. Egg - Gemigons are born within soft gem eggs. All eggs are kept within an underground chamber that keeps all of the eggs warms. The eggs hatch after six months.
2. Newborn (0-2 years) - Newborn gemigons stay in the chamber for one to two weeks and eat the soft shell of their gem egg until their parents come to get them. Their first couple of years are spent mostly just eating and sleeping until their bones are strong enough to support them and they can walk confidently.
3. Toddler (3-6 years) - When a gemigon can finally walk, they get into all sorts of mischief. They are extremely curious and have to be constantly watched so that they don't wander off. They learn how to speak and do basic tasks for themselves, similar to human toddlers.
4. Kid (7-12 years) - During these years, the gemigon learns how to become more independent. It primarily learns about their world and how to find gems that they can eat.
5. Adolescent (13-14 years) - Gems gradually break through their skin, similar to a human's wisdom teeth. The affected areas remain sore and slightly bloody for about a year until the gem has poked through enough. Gemigons continue to have growing pains, but they aren't nearly as bad once the skin has been broken.

6. Young Adult A (15-16 years) - Gems have poked through the gemigon's skin. They live comfortably for a while.
7. Young Adult B (17-25 years) - Spinal gems shed and become the gemigon's new floaty tail. Horns and claws continue to grow and become sharper.
8. Adult (26+ years) - Gemigon is fully grown, matured, and has grown back all of their spinal gems. Their tail has also formed from their shed gems.

When regular gemigons get to be about 100 years old, their gems will start to overgrow and eventually become too heavy for them. They are not completely immobilized, but it makes it very difficult to go long distances. After a while, the gems will grow so huge that they'll either grow through a vital organ, or suffocate the gemigon.
After a gemigon dies, they are buried deep in the ground where their crystals will continue to grow. Later, their crystals will be found by future generations and be eaten. They do not consider this cannibalism and is a natural part of their culture and life cycle. This method of growing food was invented by Ekym.
