Gems & Skeleton
Gemigons have skeletons that are completely made out of ever growing crystals and gems. The growth of their crystals completely depends on how hot their blood is when they are born. Gems that are higher up on Mohs scale are most common, while gems at the bottom are rare. This is because the softer gems are weaker and can easily die or be killed by another gemgion.
All gemigons have a special gem on them (usually on the chest) that stores energy, similar to a lizard's tail. Depending on how much they've eaten, gemigons can last huge amounts of time simply living on the energy from within their gem.
Their skeleton will continuously grow from the moment they are born to beyond their death. Gemigons commonly die because their skeleton will grow through a vital organ, or their overgrown gems become so heavy that they are crushed.
