The Wish
The Wish was an event that took place thousands of years ago, before gemigons had evolved from Akator trolls. The results of this caused gemigons to exist.
During the autumn equinox, a young Akator troll snuck to the spirit world temple before any other trolls could get there and summon the gods. They appeared before him, expecting the usual prayers and offerings; they were extremely surprised to see a single troll before them, with nothing to give. This intrigued them, as no creature was ever so bold as to summon them empty handed. The troll said that he wanted his species to be more beautiful; they were the strongest creatures on the continent, and therefore they should look the best. He wanted to have beautiful gems all over his body, just like his gods. They were outraged with his arrogance and disrespect, and assumed his arrogance was shared with his entire species, but showed no signs of it. They granted his foolish wish, but it was not without grave repercussions. As the wish began to come into effect, the troll immediately felt the changes. He watched in the reflections of the pool below as his mane shed and his teeth began to change into gems. As he marveled at his transformation, however, he began to feel strange. His entire body felt like it was cracking and splitting and growing. Suddenly, violently, gems began to grow out of his skin. Along his spine, the top of his head, his ribs, his tail; anywhere that had enough bone. The pain was so unbearable that he could barely move or speak; the only sound that came out of him were screams of terror as his body was split by gems. Feeling no sympathy for the troll, the gods violently ripped him from the spirit world and returned him to the living world to continue to suffer. Little did he know, the troll had wished eternal suffering upon his entire species. |
